    OINP invited candidates under the Human Capital Priorities and French-Speaking Skilled Worker Streams
    On February 8, 2022, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) issued invitations under Ontario’s Express Entry Human Capital Priorities (HCP) and French-Speaking Skilled Worker (FSSW) Streams. In the HCP draw, OINP issued 622 targeted Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to candidates who possess work experience in the tech sector. The Express Entry CRS score range of those candidates was 463-467 points. All invited candidates work in one of the following occupations:

    NOC 2173 Software engineers and designers
    NOC 2174 Computer programmers and interactive media developers
    NOC 2147 Computer engineers
    NOC 2175 Web designers and developers
    NOC 2172 Database analysts and data administrators
    NOC 0213 Computer and information systems managers
    In the FSSW draw, the province issued 206 NOIs. The Express Entry score range of invited candidates in this intake was between 464 and 467 points. The Express Entry profiles of those candidates were created between February 8, 2021 and February 8, 2022. In total, OINP issued 3,446 NOIs in 2022.

    Canada launched a new case status tracker for family class permanent residence applications
    On February 8, 2022, the Government of Canada announced the launch of the new online case status tracker which will allow permanent residence applicants to more easily check their application status online. The new system has been launched under the Government’s recent announcement on modernizing Canada’s immigration system to improve client experience. For now, only the permanent residence applicants in the spouse, partner, and dependent child categories will be able to use the tracker. In the upcoming months, additional applicant groups will also be able to use the tracker.

    Ontario updated eligibility requirement for the Employer Job Offer streams
    On February 8, 2022, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program updated instructions for the Employer Job Offer (EJO) streams. Both nominees and employers have to comply with all conditions as failure to do so may result in the cancellation of the approval. Applicants, who have been nominated under the EJO streams must continue to demonstrate their intention to reside in Ontario, be employed in the approved employment position as of the date of nomination, apply for a work permit within six months and start working within ten months, inform the OINP in case the applicant has not begun working within ten months, continue to be employed in the approved employment position until receiving permanent residence, and notify the OINP if there is a change in the nature of employment.

    Nova Scotia invited nurses to apply for a provincial nomination
    On February 8, 2022, Nova Scotia invited registered nurses (NOC 3012) to apply for a provincial nomination under the Labour Market Priorities Stream of the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP). To be eligible, candidates must have 3 years of experience as a registered nurse or registered psychiatric nurse, demonstrate the language skill at a CLB level 9 or higher in English or French, and hold a bachelor’s degree or have completed a program of three or more years at an educational institution. Eligible candidates must apply no later than March 10, 2022, 11:59 PM.
