    Work and Study Permit holders who are outside Canada cannot return to Canada
    On March 19, 2020, the Federal Government of Canada released a further clarification regarding the travel restrictions and their impact on foreign workers and international students who are outside Canada and the United States. Those individuals cannot return to Canada unless they are the spouse, common-law partner or dependent child of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. This restriction came into force on March 18 and will continue until June 30, 2020, as stated in the government order PC Number: 2020-0157. These measures also mean that foreign nationals residing abroad, whose immigration application has been approved, cannot come to Canada, as they are not permanent residents yet.

    Ontario continues to process OINP applications
    On March 19, 2020, the website of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) clarified that despite the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the province continues to process applications and issue nominations. Ontario Immigration authorities also emphasized that applicants may experience some delays in obtaining required documents from third-party organizations. As a result, this may increase processing times. All candidates are encouraged to contact the OINP in case of delays related to the processing of their applications. Ontario will consider all circumstances.

    Saskatchewan postponed invitation rounds for Entrepreneur Stream
    On March 18, 2020, Saskatchewan declared a state of emergency due to the outbreak of Covid-19. Following that, on March 19, the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) announced that Entrepreneur Stream Expression of Interest (EOI) Pool selections are postponed until further notice. This means the province will not continue inviting business immigrants until the situation changes. As for the Occupations In-Demand or Express Entry categories, currently, it will continue working as usual. There are no special instructions on inviting economic immigrants at the moment.

    Prince Edward Island decided to postpone the March Expression of Interest draw
    On March 19, 2020, the Office of Immigration of Prince Edward Island informed that the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) decided to postpone the new invitation round that was planned for Thursday, March 18, 2020. This round will be rescheduled for a later date once the situation with the Covid-19 outbreak. The province has temporarily closed the Office of Immigration. The officials promised to provide additional information in the coming weeks.
